Musical Theatre…

It starts with the right attitude...

Introduction

Musical Theatre is a growing and challenging industry which

requires highly skilled, well trained and versatile performers.

The Friday Musical Theatre classes are the first stage of

development for students to learn the required skills so that

at the age of sixteen they have the correct training to move

into the DTA College if they wish. It is very important to learn

the skills in the  three core disciplines of dance, acting and singing

in order to be a “triple-threat” performer.

All classes are taught by highly skilled and qualified teachers

with assistance from student teachers.

Students will from time to time receive individual attention and guidance
at all stages of their training in order to ensure their development and
success.
We recommend that all musical theatre students also

attend dance & singing classes as this will improve their performance skills.

Performance is an integral part of Musical Theatre training and

students are offered several opportunities to develop their stagecraft during the classes. A large-scale musical is produced each year in addition to a variety of revues and showcases.

Students also have the opportunity to perform in road shows,
charity events and after-dinner concerts.
There is also opportunity for students to participate in professional productions
(with the support of the Principal) and recent productions involving DTA students include  (Ballet Russe - Palace Theatre, Mansfield) and Cinderella,
Babes in the Wood, Snow White & the Sreven Dwarfs
(Bruce James Productions - Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield).

Cinderella, Aladdin  Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield, UK Productions.
